Mitzi Ranta

Mitzi "Caple" Ranta, age 86, formerly of Britt, MN died peacefully on April 21, 2018 at Augustana HCC of Hastings, MN. She was born on April 20, 1932 in Ray, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Ranta of Eveleth, MN, son Robert Caple of Sumner, WA and sister Edna “Tiny” Watt of South Bend, OR. She is survived by brother John Slatinski of Ericsburg, MN, sister Janet Niemi of Gilbert, MN and LaVern “Jiggs” Engebretson of South Bend, WA. She is also survived by her children, Linda (Zion) Pedersen of Seattle, WA, Roger (Cindy) Caple of Bonney Lake, WA and Tammy (Rick) Plumer of Hastings, MN. She was the proud Grandmother to 6 grandchildren and also to 8 great- grandchildren. Mitzi is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mitzi worked for the State of Minnesota until her retirement. She spent her adult life on the Iron Range of Minnesota, moving for a time to the Seattle WA area before returning to Eveleth and Britt MN. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, May 2nd at 1 PM at United in Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Station 44 Road, Eveleth, MN.   Pastor John Dietz will officiate.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert, MN.
