Pauline Julia Korpela passed away Thursday, December 6th 2018 at the Essentia Health-Northern Pines Nursing Facility at age 96. Pauline was born in Eveleth, to Jacob and Paula (Modec) Longar on March 29th 1922. Pauline graduated from the Eveleth High School, Class of 1940. She married to William Korpela in Eveleth in 1951, and briefly lived there until they moved to Aurora. She was preceded in death by her husband William in 1988, an infant son Daniel, son Michael Korpela, and brother, Jack Longar of Eveleth; and her parents. She is survived by a son, David (Cheryl) of Stillwater MN, and daughter-in-law, Terri Korpela of Aurora. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Heather) Korpela, Eric Korpela, Jessica (Asa) Sherwood, Derek (Michelle) Korpela, Jenna (Erik) Vosejpka and 10 great-grandchildren. A passionate Catholic, she was a lifelong member of the Holy Rosary Catholic church in Aurora. Pauline enjoyed playing piano, and was best known for her potica which she made for the holidays. Funeral Mass will be 10 am Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Aurora with Fr. Peter Lambert celebrating. Visitation will be one hour prior to mass at the church. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
