A private family funeral service for Phillip Anthony Tabery, 86, of Eveleth (Ely Lake), will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.
Phillip died Sunday, February 17, 2019 at his residence.
Phillip was born September 13, 1932 in Staples, Minnesota to Andrew and Hazel (Pilger) Tabery. He attended parochial school in Staples. Phillip was drafted into the US Army, served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany.
He married Anne Gripp on October 15, 1960 in Gilbert. He worked for J&L Mining Company as a shovel runner. He retired from LTV Steel in 1994.
Phillip was a member of the George and Mark Klobuchar VFW Post in Gilbert, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was always known to put others before himself and enjoyed repairing nearly everything that was in need. He was very dedicated to his family.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Anne; children: Correne Jenson of Duluth, James (Kellie) Tabery of East Bethel and Todd Tabery of Duluth; grandchildren: Heather, Stephanie, Rachelle, Jacquelyn, James, Kayla, Kimberly and Jessica; great grandchildren: Isabelle, Walden, Emma, Benjamin, Sophia and Riley; brother, Gerald Tabery of Fargo, ND; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lloyd.
