Funeral service for Raymond Alexander “Pete” Park, 83, of Gilbert will be 11 am Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with Pastors Nathan Lobb and Jon Mendonsa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Raymond died Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Northland Village Assisted Living Facility in Hoyt Lakes. He was born on March 10, 1935 to Elmer and Helen (Roehrborn) Park in Ladysmith, WI. Pete attended Tony High School in WI, graduating from the Class of 1953. Following high school, he worked on road construction with his father. He was a member of the 49ers Union. Pete moved to the Iron Range to build the railroad from Babbitt to Silver Bay with Needles Construction. He worked for Reserve Mining Company for a short time before his employment as a locomotive crane operator at Erie Mining Company, where he loved his track gang. Pete retired in 1999 after 42 years of service. Pete was united in marriage to Virginia White on December 17, 1979. The couple owned and operated Leb Talian Concessions. Pete was a member of the TRC and played on their “Charlie Brown” softball team. He was also a union trustee and helped publish their newsletter. He was a member of Lakeland Baptist Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Pete served as President of the Biwabik Senior Center and was also a member of the Aurora and Hoyt Lakes Senior Centers. Pete took great pleasure in deer hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid Packer’s fan. He will be remembered for his love of all little children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; children: Jacqueline Schumacher of Hibbing, Christine (Ronald) Adams of Makinen, Tammy Langfeld of Hibbing, Patrick (Dianne) Park of Longmont, CO, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Hancock of Hibbing, Kelly (Jill) Park of Baxter, Ginger Crews of Winston-Salem, NC, Wilfred (Stephenie Stieler) White of Reedsport OR, Kimberly (John) Schick of Stillwater, Kenneth White of Cook, and Richard (Tracee) White of Stillwater; Grandchildren: Adam, Anita, Amy, Aric, Tina, Heather, Jenna, Kevin, Tia, Phillip, Aaron, Madison, Joe, Steven, Tyler, Austin, Zachariah, Kaylie, Jaycie, Andrew, Tiffany, Steven, Jason, Nathan, Amanda, and Ashley; thirty-four great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Mary) Park of Bartlett, IL; former wife, Jackie Park of Virginia; son-in-law, Mark Langfeld of Britt; brother-in-law, Robert Lee Pyne of Santa Maria, CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen, Dorothy, Ralph, Patricia, and Robert; two sons-in-law: Lee Schumacher and Jim Crews; and his parents. Pete’s family would like to thank the staff at Northland Village in Hoyt Lakes for the wonderful care that Pete received that went above and beyond their expectations over the past year.
