Memorial Mass for Robert E. Hudy, 91, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 10am Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Eamonn Boland as celebrant. Friends may gather one hour prior to the mass at the church. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora.
Robert died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Waterview Woods in Eveleth, MN.
He was born September 5, 1927 in Biwabik, MN to Andrew and Margaret (Miller) Hudy. Robert was a graduate of Aurora High School and in 1945 enlisted with the US Navy during WWII. Following his military service he attended and graduated from St. Thomas University with a BA in Physical Education.
On June 9, 1951 he married Margaret Copeland at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. They moved to Chandler, MN where he taught school, coached basketball and served as town sheriff. In 1957 they moved to Hoyt Lakes and he began working for Erie Mining Company. He retired from there as a mining supervisor.
Robert was an active member of Queen of Peace Parish, sang in the choir and was a lector. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed making crafts of all kinds.
Survivors include his wife: Margaret; children: Robert Michael (Cammy) Hudy of rural Aurora; Kathy (Frank) Spanish of Prior Lake, Theresa (Dale) Nerison of Robbinsdale, Tom (Molly Kennedy) Hudy of Chaska and Barb Hudy of Biwabik; grandchildren: Kelly, Marty, Casey, Andrew, Jack, Shannon and David; great grandchildren: Chloe, Myles, Coltyn, Kylie, Olivia, CJ, Ellie, Liam, , Lexus, Cheyenne and Logan; great-great-grandchildren: Roman and Max; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Jim.
