Robert Nanti

Funeral Mass for Robert Nanti, 82, of Gilbert, will be 10am Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Michael Garry as celebrant. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert and will continue for one hour prior to the Mass at church on Friday.  Burial will be in the Gilbert Cemetery. Robert died Friday June 29, 2018 at New Journey Residence in Biwabik, MN. He was born June 13, 1936 in Gilbert to Torindo and Helen (Shuster) Nanti. Bob was a 1954 graduate of Gilbert High School and later attended Virginia Junior College.  In 1954 he began working for Foley Brothers and then transferred to Erie Mining Company.  Bob was drafted into the US Army and was stationed at Ft. Ord in California. On June 20, 1964 he married Mary Kay Utschinski in Superior, WI. Bob continued working for Erie in the warehouse and accounting departments and retired from LTV Steel in 1996 as the warehouse supervisor. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin with family and his beloved dog Polar. Gardening and tending to the birds were some of his favorite pastimes. Survivors include his children: Robert S. (Mary) Nanti of Gilbert, Terry (Suzanne) Nanti of Wrenshall and Jennifer (Michael) Sullivan of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren: Jacob (Danielle), Kyle (Brittany) and Kayla; great grandchild, Carter; siblings: Maxine Radke of Ormond Beach, FL, Anne (George) Potts of Twain Harte, CA, Connie (Tom) McGraw of Cross Lake, MN and Patricia (William) Jofs of Aurora; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Diane Waller. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Kay and sister, Marie Kodunce.
