Rose Louise (Majetich) Specht, 96, formerly of Mountain Iron, MN, died peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Heritage Court Memory Care in Eau Claire, WI, surrounded by family. She was born April 21, 1928, at home in Mountain Iron (Mud Lake) to Joe and Anna (Perslin) Majetich. Rose graduated from Mountain Iron High School in 1946 and then attended Virginia Junior College. She was employed at Kelly Furniture in Virginia, MN for 5 years as head bookkeeper and then worked at the Siegel-Johnston Clinic for 16 years as the credit manager. She was married to Richard Specht on October 1, 1966, in Virginia, MN. After marriage she was a stay-at-home mom to a son and twin daughters. The family lived in Aurora, MN for many years.
Rose married later in life which allowed her to be an independent working woman and world traveler. She traveled to former Yugoslavia, her dad’s homeland, to meet and visit with Croatian relatives. She also visited London, Paris, Rome, Vienna and other notable cities in Europe.
Rose was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews and a dedicated wife and mother. She was hard-working and was known for doing things to perfection. She had a love of numbers and was a born leader. She was a devout Catholic, organizing and helping with church events including quilting group, pasty making, church bazaars, and church bookkeeping jobs. She kept a meticulous house and was a wonderful cook. Her flower beds were beautiful, always having her favorite mix of pink, purple, and white flowers displayed.
Rose is survived by son, Greg Specht of Virginia, MN; twin daughters Mary (David) Ciresi of Eau Claire, WI and Margaret (Jon) Thompson of Onamia, MN; brother, John (Dolores) Majetich; grandchildren: Rachel, Ryan, Erin, Ashley, and Amy; great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, of 55 years; her parents; sisters, Marie Biondich and Ann Giorgi; brother, Martin Majetich; and other loved ones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia, MN. Celebrant will be Fr. Brandon Moravitz. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service with lunch to follow. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Virginia.
