Saphyre Kathryn Johnson

Saphyre Kathryn Johnson, age 28, of Bemidji Minnesota unexpectedly and tragically passed away

on June 28 of 2023 in Fargo, North Dakota. A memorial service and celebration of life gathering will

take place on July 11th, 2023, at 1pm, at the North Hope Church of Aurora Minnesota.

Saphyre was born June 7, 1995, in Virginia Minnesota, then spent her formative years in Aurora

with her mother Renee and her siblings. She was a kind-hearted child that enjoyed family, the outdoors,

and socializing with friends, and was a devoted supporter of her siblings. Saphyre attended and was a

graduate of the East Range Academy of Technology and Science where she earned her diploma in 2014.

After high school, Saphyre followed her calling to become a nurse, obtaining her license as a

Licensed Practical Nurse in 2021. In May of 2023 she completed her studies at Northwest Technical

College of Bemidji to become a Registered Nurse. Since 2020 she had been working as a Correcons

Nurse at different Minnesota Correctional Facilities, providing compassionate care to her patients, an

endeavor that fuelled her long-standing desire to always help those in need.

Saphyre was light-hearted, dedicated, caring, and fun. Whether she was taking silly photos of

herself for one of her many social media shares, spoiling her nephew Oliver who she loved beyond

measure, or traveling about with friends or family seeking adventure, she warmed the hearts of those

around her. Saphyre’s many trips to Murphy Lake for camping, fishing, swimming and smores created

memories that her family will forever cherish. She was a lover of animals and spent a great deal of time 

with her precious cat Nova. Saphyre was a caregiver in her personal life as well as in her professional life, 

and was someone that everyone knew they could count on. Saphyre was destined for greatness, and in 

her devastating and untimely passing, an angel was taken from Earthly form far too soon.

Saphyre will be greatly missed by her mother Renee Johnson; brothers Forrest Johnson, Shawn

(Kris) Johnson; sisters Alizandra Johnson, Sharon (Dan) Grippe; precious nephew Oliver Johnson; her

large extended family; a great group of friends; and many, many others. She was preceded in death by

her brother Corwin Johnson, aunt Kathy Johnson, cousin Angela McClelland, and grandparents Elmer

and Kathryn Cline.
