Shawna M. Jensen, 65, of Eveleth died unexpectedly on February 14, 2025, at Essentia Health Hospital in Virginia, MN. She was born in Virginia, MN, on July 15, 1959, to Kenneth and Ella (Kent) Jensen of Hoyt Lakes, MN. She attended special education in Biwabik, MN, and graduated from Biwabik Secondary School. She spent many years participating in the Special Olympics. After graduation, Shawna began working at the East Range Activity Center in Eveleth, MN, where she spent 43 years.
Shawna was a very special person. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved to look at all the trees and lights. She loved to spend time out with friends and family, listen or dance to music, watch her favorite TV shows, and read, and color in her beautiful collection of coloring books. Shawna truly enjoyed life. We would like to thank the wonderful teacher who taught her how to read and write. It opened doors for Shawna to have the opportunity to apply her newfound knowledge.
Shawna was truly capable of providing each of us with a glimpse of ourselves. She needed us, but only to a varying degree, and then she was on her way to a new adventure. Shawna would share a smile that could light up any room, and she was truly an angel on earth. We all know that in heaven, she is absolutely perfect in every way. Shawna appreciated everyone and was always happy to be invited to the many gatherings with her special friends.
Shawna resided in Eveleth at the Lutheran Social Services South Ridge residence, where she lived with roommates and staff who quickly became her friends and family. Shawna’s family was her priority, and this family in her home became a priority as well. We cannot thank them enough for everything they have done for Shawna.
Shawna will always be a true blessing from above, and there could be no greater joy than knowing the union she now shares with our Mom, Dad, and brothers. Shawna will always be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness. How fortunate we are to have had such a special sister.
Survivors include sisters: Roxanne Horton of Hoyt Lakes, Deborah (Kenneth) Brassill of Two Harbors; brothers: Kurt (Sharon) Jensen of Biwabik and Mike (Brenda) Jensen of Hoyt Lakes; niece, Geneva (Michael) Niemi of Aurora; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Ella Jensen; brothers Kris Jensen and Mark Jensen; and nephew, Ryan Horton.
