Susan "Sue" Malenius

A celebration of life will be held from noon-2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Biwabik.

Susan “Sue” Malenius, 66, of Biwabik passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

She was born on December 13, 1957 to Thomas and Edith “Mae” (Goldsworthy) Murphy in Biwabik. Sue was united in marriage to Donald Malenius on November 22, 1980.

Sue worked for herself cleaning homes for over thirty years. She loved helping people and made many lasting friendships. Her grandsons were her whole world.

Survivors include her daughter, Kristen (Marty) Gensler of Hibbing; grandsons: Brent Malenius of Eveleth and Devin and Dayton Gensler of Hibbing; stepdaughter, Josie (Ben) Olson of Duluth; brother, Jerry (Donna) Murphy of Gilbert; sister, Carolyn (Gary) Werkhoven of Duluth; brothers-in-law: David Malenius of Gold Canyon, AZ, Dean (Barb Irish) Malenius of Fayal, Dan (Lori) Malenius of St. Louis Park; sister-in-law, Diane Van Skike of Gold Canyon, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Malenius; in-laws: Mike Van Skike and Suzi Malenius; and her parents.
