Terry J. Leoni

Our beloved husband, father, proud Papa, Terry Leoni, 69, of rural Gilbert passed away on June 19, 2024. 

Terry lived his entire life in the Gilbert area. He graduated from Gilbert High School class of 1973 and then from UMD. He retired in 2020 after working more than 50 years. He had a great work ethic which started with working at the family owned peat plant operation. From there he had numerous management positions. 

He served on many boards. One he was especially proud of was on the school board during the consolidation of the Gilbert and Eveleth school districts. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and most recently went back to golfing. He coached youth hockey, baseball and basketball while his children were in the sport. He especially enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He liked traveling, mostly because his wife liked traveling. He had upcoming plans to go to Montana for his granddaughter’s 6th birthday. He loved being with his family and didn’t like missing any of their important events or birthdays. 

He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Sherry of 47 years; his daughter Tia (Trax) Turner, granddaughter Catalina; Nick (Rebekah) Leoni, grandchildren Meadow and Scout; and Jason Leoni: brothers Todd (Shirley) and Joe (Beth); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Joe and Fran Leoni, nephew Joey Leoni and sister- in-law Kim Creager. His final act is giving the gift of life by being an organ donor.

There will be a Memorial Service 10:00am Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gilbert with Fr. Charles Flynn officiating. Friends may gather one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Gilbert.

Following the church service there will be a Celebration of Life at the Biwabik Township Hall.

Burial will be at a later date in the Biwabik Township Cemetery.
