Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Mary “Ginny” Dorn, 82, of Hoyt Lakes, will be 1pm Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Parish in Hoyt Lakes with Fr. Peter Lambert as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora from 5-7pm with recitation of the rosary at 6:45pm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the mass at church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
Ginny died March 2, 2019 at her residence in Hoyt Lakes.
Ginny was born September 27, 1936 to Joseph and Mary (Freske) Kraemer in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She was a graduate of Parkers Prairie High School and later married Edward Dorn on June 27, 1955 in Urbank, Minnesota. They moved to Hoyt Lakes in 1958.
In the mid 1960’s, Ginny attended beauty and cosmetology schooling in Virginia and once licensed, she owned and operated her beauty salon out of her home. Later, she moved the business to downtown Hoyt Lakes and worked as a beautician for 40 years.
Ginny was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church where she served as president of the Council of Catholic Women, sang in the church choir and organized and volunteered at numerous church events.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; son, Steven (Debbie) Dorn of Hoyt Lakes; grandchildren: Kristine (Jason) Norberg, Kayla Dorn and Joe (Kristen) Switajewski; great grandchildren: Zacary and Blake Norberg and Ashton and Coral Mattison; sisters: Kathleen Miller and Bernadette Stein; son-in-law, Terry Switajewski; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Renee (2014); brothers: Cornelius, George, LeRoy, Joseph and Robert; sisters: Pauline and Marie.
