Memorial service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Aurora Community Center with Pastor Gus Layman officiating. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Aurora-Hoyt Lakes Color Guard. Inurnment will be in the Embarrass Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora.
Walter J. Cromley, age 81, of Aurora passed to his heavenly home on May 29, 2024 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 12, 1943 in Pennsylvania the son of Walter and Mary Cromley.
Following graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. He served in the United States National Guard for 23 years. In 1963 he met his future wife, Sandra Bukal. They married on April 10, 1965 in Virginia MN. They raised their 6 children in northern Minnesota, settling in 1974 in Aurora. He started working in 1966 at Erie Mining/LTV until his retirement in 2001.
He is survived by his loving wife Sand, of 59 years; their 6 children: Lisa (Steve) Pietila, Rebecca Cromley, Michelle (James) Costello, David Cromley, Bryan (Holly) Cromley, and Eric (Brianna) Cromley; their grandchildren: Autumn (Tom), Angelis (Trent), Luke, Ryan, Samantha (Derek), Hannah (Daniel), Taylor (Alex), Alexsandra, Kayla (Jeremy), Andrea, Dayton, Nicholas, Danyelle, Colton and Peyton; their 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Mae, Orvis, Kevin, Mark, Todd and Regina.
He loved doing a headcount of his family at every occasion. If Sonny could tell us anything about Gods saving grace it would be I Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love God.
