Yvonne Marie Kush, 86, of Aurora passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at the Edgewood Vista in Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Aurora with Father Kristoffer McKusky celebrating. In addition, a visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, from 4-6 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 5:45 p.m. at the Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora and visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be the Forest Hill Cemetery in Aurora.
Yvonne was born on March 26, 1937 to Willie and Nora (Trudeau) Delage in Brooks, MN. She grew up and attended Pershing High School in Plummer, MN, graduating from the Class of 1955. On November 12, 1955 Yvonne was united in marriage to Daniel Kush in Brooks. The couple moved to Aurora in 1956 and became proud lifelong residents of the community, while raising a family of four. Yvonne was a devoted wife and homemaker. After her youngest child started school, Yvonne entered the workforce and was one of the first women hired at Erie Mining Company as a laborer. She retired from Erie Mining after twenty years of service. After the loss of her husband, she enjoyed being a foster grandparent at the Mesabi East School.
Yvonne was an active member of the Holy Rosary Church in Aurora where she served on many of their guilds and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women. The Catholic faith and her family were of the utmost importance to Yvonne. She enjoyed spending time taking care of her yard, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. Yvonne also took pleasure in attending family activities, biking, playing cards, reading, cooking and puzzles. She and her ten siblings were very close and always prioritized spending time together.
Survivors include her children: Debra Ehrich of Aurora, Glen Kush of Duluth, Tracy (Paul) McDonald of Ely and Tim (Susan) Kush of Duluth, MN; grandchildren: Sarah (Rusty) FitzGerald, Emily (Tony) House, Megan (Eli) Dotts, Natalie McDonald, Cannon and Kendra Kush; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Abby, Jack, Abby, Molly, Logan, Kadie, Darlene and Drazen; brothers: Duane and Richard (Karen) Delage; sisters: Madonna (Bob) Polta, Mary (Gene) Christianson, Lucille (Bob) Weiss, Paulette (Larry) Johnson and Diane Westlake; sisters-in-law: Shirley Delage, Joanne Bradley and Rose Delage; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; brothers: Robert, Sheldon and Harvey Delage; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Lewis Westlake, Deloris Delage; son-in-law, Allan Ehrich; and her parents.
