Bob was born on August 8, 1929 to Harold and Brita (Larssen) Anderson in Moline, IL. He grew up in Moline until his family moved to Virginia while Bob was in high school. He graduated from the Virginia High School, Class of 1947 and later attended Virginia Junior College. Bob worked at the Oliver Mining Company following his schooling prior to enlisting in the National Guards. He transferred to the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Esther Ruth Johnson in 1950 until her untimely passing in 1983. He later married Sharon Brinkman and was married for twenty-nine years until her death in 2018. Bob was employed by US Steel as a systems analyst until his retirement. He stayed in high demand for his specialized skill set and continued to work following his retirement.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist and later the Rockwell Church where he served in many leadership capacities. Bob was a nature lover. He enjoyed canoe trips to the Boundary Waters and family time at his cabin on Elbow Lake. He was an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed a wide variety of literature. Other hobbies include bowling and fishing. Bob was extremely proud of his Swedish heritage. He will be remembered as a well respected, kind, generous man who lived his life as a “servant leader” to his family, friends, and most importantly his Lord.

Anderson of Ely, Brian Anderson of Fargo; Stepchildren: Paul (Kathy) Brinkman, David Brinkman and Steve (Kim) Brinkman all of Virginia; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and three nieces and nephews; as well as his loving church family and very special supportive neighbors.
